Getting to and from London Heathrow Airport


Heathrow Express

The Heathrow Express offers the fastest time from Heathrow Airport to the Centre of London. The service runs every fifteen minutes and takes only fifteen minutes. This is the shortest travelling of the four largest airports to the centre of London. Tickets for this service can be booked online from the Heathrow Express web site or by calling the Heathrow Express ticket line on 0845 600 1515. From Paddington Station you can connect to lots of destinations to the west, south west of England. Paddington Station is also located on the District, Circle, Bakerloo as well as the Hammersmith & City lines of the massive London Underground Network.
Heathrow Connect
The latest rail service to and from Heathrow but unlike the Heathrow Express this service stops at some stations before reaching Paddington or Heathrow depending on which way you are travelling. Terminal four passengers transfer using the free Heathrow Express link. Information on this service is available by calling 0845 748 4950. Make sure you purchase your tickets in advance as the rail company operates a penalty fare system on this route to stop people riding free.
Underground
London Underground offers an alternative to the Heathrow Express however there is a reason this service is not called the Heathrow Express. The journey time is generally an hour or more however it is much cheaper. There are regular trains and the underground serves terminal 1,2,3 and terminal 4.


Heathrow by Coach

National Express operate coaches to hundreds of routes all over the UK via their coach network and you can pre-book by calling 0870 5 808 080. Most coaches collect passengers at the central bus station, which is nearest to Terminals one, three and four. The central coach station is open twenty four hours a day. The walking distance to the central coach station from terminal one is just under five minutes whilst terminal two is a couple of minutes nearer and terminal three is a few minutes further away then terminal one. Please note that parking is not available at the central bus station.

Heathrow By Car

Before starting out on your journey make sure you know which terminal you need to get to in advance and plan your journey accordingly. Terminals one, two and three are located near to each other and terminal four is located to the South of the Airport.

Travelling between the Airports.

There are various ways to travel between the London Airports.

By Coach to Gatwick
National Express Service 700 runs four times an hour from outside terminals 1, 3, 4 and travels to Gatwick Airport North and South Terminals. The journey time between London Heathrow Airport and London Gatwick is approximately seventy minutes or more depending on the traffic and the time of day of your journey.

By Coach to Stansted
There is an hourly service between London Heathrow and London Stansted Airport operated by National Express. The journey time for this service is around an hour and a half.
